On June 8, China Media Group's reporter Liu Xiaoqian witnessed the escalating clashes in Los Angeles. Police fired non-lethal rounds at protesters while the air filled with tear gas.

Liu noted that he could hear the relentless explosions of stun grenades as people tried to break through the barricades outside a temporary detention center. He said the sound of detainees pounding on windows grew louder and more desperate as time passed.
