Dr Funmi Adio is a public health physician and researcher committed to advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through work in infectious diseases, gender equity, and maternal and child health (MCH). Her research has addressed pandemic preparedness, gender-based violence, home-based MCH services, quality of antenatal care, and emergency obstetric care pathways in Edo State.

She contributes to gender-equitable health advocacy through her professional practice and the EmpowerHer Fellowship (Women in Global Health Nigeria), ensuring underserved women benefit from stronger, inclusive health systems.

Recognised with an Award of Distinction in Public Health, she remains dedicated to evidence-driven solutions that strengthen Nigeria’s health systems and accelerate progress toward UHC.
