​​Deuteronomio 10: ¿Qué pide Dios de ti?

Deuteronomio 10:12-22:
“Ahora pues, Israel, ¿qué pide el SEÑOR tu Dios de ti? Solo que temas al SEÑOR tu Dios, que andes en todos sus caminos, que ames y sirvas al SEÑOR tu Dios con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma, y que guardes los mandamientos del SEÑOR y sus estatutos que yo te prescribo hoy, para tu bien.
“He aquí, del SEÑOR tu Dios son los cielos y los cielos de los cielos, la tierra y todo lo que en ella hay. Pero el SEÑOR se agradó solo de los padres de ustedes para amarlos, y después de ellos eligió a su descendencia de entre todos los pueblos, es decir, a ustedes, como en el día de hoy. Circunciden, pues, el prepucio de su corazón y no endurezcan más su cerviz. Porque el SEÑOR su Dios es Dios de dioses y Señor de señores. Es Dios grande, poderoso y temible, que no hace distinción de personas ni acepta soborno. Él hace justicia al huérfano y a la viuda, y también ama al extranjero y le da pan y vestido. Por tanto, amarás al extranjero, porque extranjeros fueron ustedes en la tierra de Egipto.
“Al SEÑOR tu Dios temerás, y a él servirás. A él serás fiel y por su nombre jurarás. Él es tu alabanza; él es tu Dios que ha hecho por ti estas cosas grandes y temibles que tus ojos han visto. Con setenta personas descendieron tus padres a Egipto, y ahora el SEÑOR tu Dios te ha hecho tan numeroso como las estrellas del cielo.

En este capítulo, Moisés narró el momento en que Dios le pidió que hiciera las tablas de piedra para que Dios pudiera escribir otra vez los mandamientos para Israel, después de que el pueblo hizo el becerro de oro y Dios los perdonó. Les recordó que las tablas estarán dentro del arca del pacto.

Moisés se dirigió de forma solemne y cariñosa al pueblo, llamando su atención a algo que deberían recordar por siempre: les explicó lo que Dios les pide.
Primero, que amen al Señor, siguiendo sus caminos sin apartarse de ellos, guardando sus mandamientos y que lo hagan de forma solemne, con corazón sincero.
¡Así es! Dios quiere que le sigan con corazón voluntario, con amor y entrega total. Él no quiere que nadie lo siga por imposición o miedo. Dios quiere que haya una relación muy linda con gracia y con ternura entre Dios y la humanidad. Él quiere que lo adoren en espíritu y en verdad.
La razón por la que Israel debía hacerlo es porque Dios los amó sin condición. No por ser un pueblo grande y fuerte, sino por amor a Abraham, su amigo. Porque Dios los vio, los tomó en sus brazos y los adoptó como hijos suyos.

De la misma forma, ¡no debemos olvidar el gran privilegio que tenemos de ser llamados hijos de Dios! ¡El haber sido escogidos entre millones de personas!
Muchos todavía no han experimentado el poder del Espíritu Santo, los abrazos del Señor cuando entramos a su presencia, la consolación y paz que Dios nos da, los milagros y prodigios que Dios hace cuando lo llamamos en oración. Muchos no saben lo que es dormir sin sentimientos de culpabilidad, pues los persiguen sus faltas pasadas. Muchos no saben lo que es sentir esa sensación grata de libertad, de ser perdonado, de ser liberado de las cadenas invisibles que atan el alma. ¡Pero tú sí!
Eso ocurre cuando Dios nos llama y aceptamos su llamado. Cuando creemos en su gran obra de salvación cuando murió y resucitó por nosotros. Eso pasa cuando el Espíritu Santo de Dios nos inunda con su gracia.
Así que, ¡no olvides esto! Cuando Israel olvidó los privilegios tan grandes que tenían al tener a Dios en medio de ellos, comenzaron a desviarse rápidamente del camino del bien y se fueron detrás de otros dioses.
No vayas detrás de placeres temporales terrenales; no hagas cosas que te hagan alejar de Su presencia maravillosa. Nada podrá reemplazar el gran honor de entrar al lugar santísimo por medio de la sangre de Jesús. No arriesgues a perder tu salvación.
No menosprecies el amor de Aquel que te eligió, no por tus capacidades ni riquezas, sino porque te vio y te amó con amor eterno.
Solo nos queda hacer lo que Él nos pide: Que lo amemos y lo sirvamos con todo nuestro ser, como dice la Escritura de Proverbios 23:26: "Dame, hijo mío, tu corazón, y observen tus ojos mis caminos."
O como dijo el profeta Miqueas en Miqueas 6:8: “¡Oh hombre, él te ha declarado lo que es bueno! ¿Qué requiere de ti el SEÑOR? Solamente hacer justicia, amar misericordia y caminar humildemente con tu Dios.”

Yo estoy dispuesto a satisfacer ese deseo del Señor para con sus hijos. ¿Lo estás tú también?

Deuteronomy 10: What does God ask of you?

Deuteronomy 10:12-22:
“And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes which I command you today for your good? Indeed heaven and the highest heavens belong to the Lord your God, also the earth with all that is in it. The Lord delighted only in your fathers, to love them; and He chose their descendants after them, you above all peoples, as it is this day. Therefore circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and be stiff-necked no longer. For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality nor takes a bribe. He administers justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the stranger, giving him food and clothing. Therefore love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. You shall fear the Lord your God; you shall serve Him, and to Him you shall hold fast, and take oaths in His name. He is your praise, and He is your God, who has done for you these great and awesome things which your eyes have seen. Your fathers went down to Egypt with seventy persons, and now the Lord your God has made you as the stars of heaven in multitude.

In this chapter, Moses narrated the moment when God asked him to make the stone tablets so that God could write again the commandments for Israel, after the people had made the golden calf and God forgave them. He reminded them that the tablets will be inside the ark of the covenant.

Moses solemnly and affectionately addressed the people, drawing their attention to something they should remember forever: he explained to them what God asks of them.
First, that they love the Lord, following His ways without departing from them, keeping His commandments and that they do so solemnly, with a sincere heart.
That's how it is! God wants you to follow Him with a willing heart, with love and total dedication. He does not want anyone to follow Him out of imposition or fear. God wants there to be a very beautiful relationship with grace and with tenderness between God and humanity. He wants you to worship Him in spirit and in truth.
The reason Israel had to do it is because God loved them without condition. Not for being a great and strong people, but for the love of Abraham, His friend. Because God saw them, He took them in His arms and adopted them as His children.

In the same way, we must not forget the great privilege we have to be called children of God! Having been chosen among millions of people!
Many have not yet experienced the power of the Holy Spirit, the hugs of the Lord when we enter His presence, the consolation and peace that God gives us, the miracles and wonders that God does when we call Him in prayer. Many do not know what it is to sleep without feelings of guilt, because they are haunted by their past faults. Many do not know what it is like to feel that pleasant sensation of freedom, of being forgiven, of being freed from the invisible chains that bind the soul. But you do!
That happens when God calls us and we accept His call. When we believe in His great work of salvation when He died and rose for us. That happens when the Holy Spirit of God floods us with His grace.
So don't forget this! When Israel forgot the great privileges they had by having God in their midst, they quickly began to stray from the path of good and went after other gods.
Do not go after temporary earthly pleasures; don't do things that make you walk away from His wonderful presence. Nothing can replace the great honor of entering the holy of holies through the blood of Jesus. Don't risk losing your salvation.
Do not underestimate the love of the One who chose you, not because of your abilities or wealth, but because He saw you and loved you with an eternal love.
We only have to do what He asks of us: That we love Him and serve Him with all our being, as the Scripture of Proverbs 23:26 says: "My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways.”
Or as the prophet Micah said in Micah 6:8: "He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you? To do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”

I am willing to satisfy that desire of the Lord for His children. So are you?
