DMN8 the Day

Developing Habits - DMN8 the Day 130

Listen Later

Habits, habits, habits. There's a couple of different thoughts on habits. One is, takes 21 days to build a habit. Mm, probably true. Sometimes it takes longer. It just depends on how hard the activity is or how much you like or don't like the activity for it to become a habit. Some habits are easier to develop. Some habits are not, it's always crazy. The ones that are easier to develop are the ones that aren't any good for you. The habit of eating cake every day, I mean, I can make that a habit real quick, right? But the habit of eating the right protein every day and not having sugar every day, like that's gonna be a little bit more difficult of a habit, but habits that come with pain make you stronger, make you better. And when we reach for habits that give us strength, we become a better individual. We become a better person. We become a better business owner. We become a better employer. We become a better father. We become a better husband. We become better. And so as we are in this moment of reflection because the end of a year and the beginning of a year always put us in that moment of reflection. You have to ask yourself, okay, what is it that I need to do differently? What is it I need to change? Maybe it's getting up and taking a walk every day and in January, in greater Cincinnati, that sucks. Why? It's cold. Probably cold, maybe snowing, maybe sleeting, maybe icy. That habit is not, not going to be easy, but maybe that's what it is you need to do. Maybe it's not drinking for a period of time. I'm not one of these people that would tell you to abstain forever. That's up to you, but maybe it's, I want to get some mental clarity. I did that last year for 60 days. It's different, definitely different. And now I find myself not drinking maybe once a week, once every two weeks, unless I'm around people that drink all the time and then I'm drinking with them. Maybe it's changing what kind of food you're putting in your body? All of this stuff helps you to build a better you. Maybe it's reading a certain amount of pages on a daily basis. Maybe it's being grateful and having gratitude for the things in your life. Those habits help you become better, help become stronger. And when you implement habits, making time in your life, you become the best version of you. And when you become the best version of you, you begin to accomplish things that you've only dreamt of accomplishing. So you want to change sh*t up. You want to do things that are better. Create some habits in your life. Do the hard sh*t, DMN8 the day.
