Business ownership requires a lot of different skills, a lot of different things that you have to know. Unfortunately, every business owner tries to learn everything like the bottom line is you need to delegate, automate, innovate if you want to DMN8. But there are also some soft skills that are required to own a business that we all have to develop. Things like, you know, leadership, communication, negotiation, having a positive mindset, active listening, having discipline, transparency, overcoming adversity, integrity, persuasion, time management, team building like all those soft skills are things you have who work on developing, and there are a lot of times those things get overlooked and then they become a glaring piece to the puzzle that's missing. Like someone that doesn't work on their communication skills probably has high turnover because they can't communicate effectively to train, they can't communicate the vision effectively, and it's difficult to run an operation that way. Someone that doesn't work on their time management, like they never meet deadlines, they lose customers, they have people p*ssed off all the time and you have to work on this. So how do you work on them? Well, think about the gym. Like you want to build a muscle, what do you gotta do? You gotta put it through the wringer, you gotta make it feel uncomfortable, and that's the way developing soft skills work as well. You wanna become a great communicator, you're having difficulty communicating. The first thing that I would do is develop your written communication. So how do you do that? You write every single day, you write. You write 300 words a day, write 500 words a day, write a thousand words a day, write. Okay. So you've developed your written communication, so then how do you develop the verbal communication? Well, you develop verbal communication and this is crazy. Ready? By listening. By listening. That's how you become a better verbal communicator. Verbal communication is two ways, it's talking and it's listening. And if you can become an effective listener, you can become an effective communicator and all the soft skills work this way. You gotta build it well in order to build it, you have to make it uncomfortable. And developing soft skills is one of the most critical pieces to becoming successful in business ownership, that there is, almost like your superpowers. And we negate, we neglect. We wanna worry about the sexy stuff. You know, we wanna worry about the things that we think are gonna make us money, when really soft skills are what's going to make the money. So do an inventory, do an inventory of what you're good at, do an inventory of what you're not so good at. Start working on those things, develop a plan to become better. Put the plan in place and you'll start to see the change. You build your soft skills.
