The Pharisees accused Jesus of using the power of Beelzebub (Baal) to cast out devils. Jesus knowing their hearts put them into their place by speaking to them regarding unity and division.  A sovereign power cannot stand if it is divided.  Jesus used Beelzebub or (Baal) to correct the religious leaders by what Elijah did on Mt. Carmel when Elijah called fire from heaven after the 450 Baal priest failed to have Baal start a fire upon the altar.  But God, through Elijah called fire from heaven onto the altar of wood after it had been saturated with water and Elijah also called fire down from heaven to destroy two military company of 50 men each.  Ahab and Jezebel discovered the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob was a powerful God. 

Jesus casted out the devil by the power of the Father working through Him.  The same power during the days of Elijah caused the drought and the fire to fall from heaven to prove Baal was not real but God was.  Jesus response reminded the religious leaders that the non- powerful god of Baal is inert but the power of God working through him to cast out the devil was the true God proving that Jesus was the Messiah.
