By Annie TalksJohn 15-2He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. This Bible verse reminds of the times I would see the gardeners that came to my work every Monday to trim the bushes and pull out the weeds. Once in a while, weirdly during the summer, the tree trimmers would come out and prune the branches, cut some of the branches off leaving the trees to look barren, without leaves and branches. I used to think, "Why now? We need the shade during these hot summer months more than ever." But what do I know? I'm not a tree trimmer or tree professional! This is the time, best suited for tree trimming, apparently. This is the time trees experience intense heat - and may grow out of control or in the wrong directions. Ultimately through the "stress" of the summer heat, the trees could bear bad fruit or their leaves could be diseased. Pruning is a necessary things. God also prunes away bad things that should not be in our lives during different seasons of our lives. When we go through "heated" situations, get exposed to bad elements, or bad people in our lives - this could cause us to grow in the wrong directions. We could go astray or bear bad fruit. He ultimately begins pruning away those harmful influences, or harmful and toxic people so that we could have the chance at growing in the direction God intends for us and that would bear good fruit. The trees after they been pruned, appears to be stripped of their leaves and stripped of their branches. They looks bare, but they are ready for what is to come: the next seasons of their lives -- fall and winter, and then by spring they should harvest good fruit, good leaves, and have productive growth. God works on our hearts the same way. Like the trees that trusts their gardener, so should we trust our God -- the master gardener. He knows best about our lives and will never leave us or forsake us.
