  • S02.E07 - JEFFERY HOBBS / SLOW BONE BBQ
I am interviewing Chef, Jeffery Hobbs, owner of Slow Bone BBQ. Located at 2234 Irving Blvd, Dallas, Texas. www.slowbonebbq.com / Instagram @slowbonebbq
I chat with Jeffery about his early days being a line chef, the things he learned along the way and what makes his BBQ so darn delicious! Slow Bone is hands down my favorite bbq in Dallas! I’ve been enjoying their delicious BBQ for about 6 years now BUT they have been serving Texas-style BBQ since 2013. They smoke all of their meats on-site daily in a smoker they call Miss Jessie. Some of the daily meats on the menu are: Smoked brisket, Pulled Pork, Pork Ribs, Beef Ribs ,Turkey Breast, Smoked Chicken andBlack Pepper Hickory Sausage & Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage. Just to name a few. Oh, I can’t forget the chicken-licious sandwich. Every morning they make more than a dozen hot and cold sides from scratch. Including, brisket beans, Horseradish Potato Salad, chili Mac, and several other chef-driven favorites like sweet potato praline, Bonnie's Squash Casserole and Granny High's Pea Salad.
Slow Bone BBQ is open daily, 11am-3pm, M-F.

I am interviewing Oliver Parr. Oliver Parr is a Dallas-based brick artist, founder of MODERN BROCK HAUS is located at 2506 Sylvan Ave in the Tin District, Dallas TX.
MODERN BROCK HAUS reimagines the brick medium into a tool for open-ended expression, inviting builders to create, rebuild, and explore beyond traditional step-by-step instructions. Through Modern Brick Haus, Parr designs brick sets that move beyond construction into collaboration, where each builder becomes an artist. His botanical MOSS series has been exhibited in spaces such as Samuel Lynne Gallery and the Dallas World Trade Center, and his sets have found homes with builders across the world. You can purchase the botanical MOSS GARDENS and Bonsai brick sets on his website at www.modernbrickhaus.com
I first became aware of Oliver’s work at last fall’s Tin District’s art walk. What’s funny is I had met him serval times before that and we had several lengthy conversations but he never shared anything about his work. Such a gracious and humble person. But, once I saw his work, I added inspiring and talented into his character. I had so many questions about his work and just had to have him on the podcast.

  • S02.E02 - MKW Art / Minji Kang-Watrous
    MINJIKW - MKW Art / Minji Kang-Watrous
I am interviewing Minji Kang-Watrous. Minji creates her art meticulously by hand using the ancient Korean tradition of Hanji paper making. She learned the process as a child through her mother, who was a Hanji artist. Her tools are handmade paper, ancestral patterns, and symbols drawn from Korean domestic life and scholarly tradition. I first became aware of Minji and her stunning art at one of my favorite art shows of the past, Vinyl Thoughts, which was an ongoing art show that celebrated custom vinyl toys around the country and in Dallas. I remember being floored by her beautiful custom vinyl toys and baffled by the amount of detail, care and love that went into her pieces.
I have had the good fortune to run into Minji often throughout the years of knowing her and I always enjoy hearing and seeing all of the exciting things she has is creating. I adore her and her husband Paul. Minji’s work has been featured in multiple magazine and galleries like Kettle Art, Adolphus Tower Gallery and the other art fair. She currently has a stunning collection of artwork on display and for sale in her studio, located in the Tin District, just a few miles west of the Margaret hunt bridge off of sylvan and fabrication street. She is someone who happily invites anyone curious into her world with open arms.
