Diamond Diehards: Katie Martineau, A Unique Baseball Mom
Joe Rizzo brings you baseball. Riz & "The Dawg" Jeff Healy bring you a special episode after doing a Facebook Live with Katie Martineau, the unique baseball mom behind our previous guest, 15-year-old Connecticut baseball player Lillian Martineau. Katie came on for a chat about things behind the scenes of helping her amazing daughter navigate the fun but sometimes difficult waters of being a girl trying to make it in baseball as a teenager.
Katie recounted the emotional and difficult day a few years ago when Lilli was in seventh grade and denied a chance to try out for the baseball team. She gave insight into the way social media, with despite its pitfalls, has played a part in helping Lilli get some recognition, including her relationship with baseball pioneer Missy Coombes. Missy was watching along and adding comments, which Riz read and the crew talked about.

Katie talked about the roles within the Martineau family, gave an idea of what a typical day is like in their house, and added insight into what has helped Lilli keep up with her male counterparts on the diamond. There also was the requisite Grey's Anatomy talk!
