The arts are an integral component of every society. Dance, music, and storytelling form the basis of every culture based on the basic principle that “the creative process liberates humankind.” Why is this important for individuals with autism? Today, we visit with Diana Hoffman, President of Music With Confidence a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that goes beyond being just a music school. It utilizes performing arts and fine arts as tools to help students on the autistic spectrum, emotionally challenged, or specially gifted develop self-confidence, teamwork skills, and a sense of control and hope for their future. The organization actively collaborates with other groups to achieve shared goals, such as empowering children and fostering mental health.
