Hennessy in a Teacup

Diary of a Mad Black Woman

Listen Later

As two Black Women in America, we often find ourselves fighting stereotypes. Our personalities are criticized, and we face unsolicited opinions on everything from our hair to our facial expressions only to have our reactions labeled as angry.

Anger is a reaction; it’s an interpretation of feeling threatened or attacked, frustrated or powerless.

Its one of the most natural human emotions yet it is used to pigeonhole Black Women as the "angry villain" for all the world to see. Well if anger is a reaction, what are you doing to provoke this feeling from Black Women? On this episode we explore the topic by discussing our experiences with this stereotype and how we’ve been able to combat and manage it.
