December 31: Reasons to sing and praise!

Today we finish the book of Psalms, and we are going to close with the last 3 chapters that contain very similar themes and are about the importance of praising the Lord. These psalms begin with phrases that include the words: "sing or praise" Let's start:

Psalm 148:1-6:
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise Him in the heights! Praise Him, all His angels;
praise Him, all His hosts! Praise Him, sun and moon; praise Him, all you stars of light! Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, and you waters above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the Lord, for He commanded and they were created. He also established them forever and ever; He made a decree which shall not pass away.

Psalm 148 is a poetry exalting the Lord, and asks all creation to glorify God as their Creator. Look at the verse where it says that God put unbreakable laws on creation and it will not be shaken. No one will be able to modify the order of creation but only the One who created it. That is why human beings have not been able to control or manipulate creation. No one has been able to stop the rains, storms or earthquakes. Only God is the One who sustains the order of creation and He Himself will transform it. In the end of things He will undo these heavens and earth, and will form new heavens and new earth, and will establish the eternal world completely for those who stood firm in their faith.

Psalms 149:4-9:
For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation. Let the saints be joyful in glory; let them sing aloud on their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand, to execute vengeance on the nations, and punishments on the peoples; to bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; to execute on them the written judgment— this honor have all His saints. Praise the Lord!

The 149 is a prophetic psalm, where the children of God will fight and conquer at the side of the Lord. This will be fulfilled when Jesus Christ comes the second time and takes all dominion over kings and nations in the war of Armageddon. In addition, the writer gave us a very nice detail and it is that he announced that God will adorn and honor those who have been faithful to Him

Psalms 150:1-6:
Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty firmament! Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to His excellent greatness! Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; praise Him with the lute and harp! Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
Praise Him with loud cymbals; praise Him with clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!

The 150 is the last psalm, and it is very beautiful because it closes this book full of songs and poetry with a psalm that invites all humanity to worship God with a variety of instruments of different kinds, and ending with the phrase "¡All that breathes praise the Lord!"
Not just Jews, priests, musicians and vocalists. It includes all who have life to use their voice, hands, feet, strength, mind and heart to become a living instrument to honor and glorify God.
