It's not often that steady staters achieve success in the political arena; even less often do they run for and win public office; and never do they run for president. However, the former three-term governor of Colorado, Dick Lamm, is the one rare exception. In 1996, he ran for president as a member of the Reform Party, competing against Ross Perot for the party's nomination.
