Did God Set Us Up for Failure?: Genesis 1-3

  1. God the Trinity
    • Genesis 1:2, 26
    • John 1:1-3
    • Colossians 1:16-18
  2. This perfect communion of God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit existed and exists forever
    • We were not created to satisfy a “lonely” God who needed our relationship.
  3. God is perfectly sovereign
    • Ephesians 1:11
    • John 15:16
    • Psalm 139:4
  4. So did God set us up for failure!?
    • We know that the Trinity has and will always be in perfect communion with one another, we know that God is all knowing and perfectly sovereign, so it stands to question...if God knew that Adam and Eve would sin against him then why did he create this situation/relationship knowing that???
    • Parental analogy
    • Maybe a better question is what does the creation/fall story (TRUE STORY) teach us about the communion between God and man?
  5. My personal takeaway
    • God was adamant in showing us the importance of heartfelt obedience towards him.
      • Psalm 19:7-11
      • John 14:15
      • Psalm 16:11
    • Not in some domineering way but showing us from day 1, in the most loving way, that anything outside of his word leads to separation from him.
