Ep. 877: Did the Confederate Constitution Make it Illegal for States to Abolish Slavery?

This is one of those myths that won't disappear, in large part because Americans have been so conditioned to think of the central government as the ONLY government without any understanding of federalism that it makes it easy to come up with some really stupid legal positions. Like the Confederate Constitution made it illegal for States to abolish slavery.
