One hundred and fifty years after the end of the war, it’s hard to argue that many of the principles of the Confederacy are still alive in the hearts and minds of large parts of this country. Even though the leaders of the Confederacy were barred from political life by the 14th Amendment, many of their supporters and sympathizers helped shape the country over the next century. We talk about how these Confederate sympathizers have carried on the Confederacy through the Klan and the passage of numerous laws geared towards negatively impacting the lives of former slaves and their descendants.
