Did You Know That Aggression Nurturance Is Important For Boys?
Michael Gurian coined this phrase.
Aggression Nurturance as opposed to violence
Violence: behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something
Aggression Nurturance is something that occurs between boys and men often. It has everything to do with relationship building and connection. Aggression Nurturance becomes inappropriate and can be a form negative aggression when a boy uses this on the opposite gender.
Aggression Nurturance is NOT Violence when it occurs between men and boys who are in relationship with each other. The end goal is not to cause injury although at time this does happen. The participants know each other and have a relationship.
