1. Format

• IELTS is computer or written

• PTE Academic is only computer based

2. Price

• Price is the same for both

3. Test Formats:

• IELTS has General and Academic

• PTE Abroad is used for both study and Immigration

4. Acceptance

• IELTS is accepted by more Organizations than PTE

5. Speaking Test

• The IELTS Speaking test is taken in a room with an examiner.

• PTE Academic speaking test is taken in small room with other test takers.

Mic switches off on its own if there's a silence of more than 3 seconds.

6. Flexibility

• In computer IELTS you can skip questions and get back to them later

• In PTE Academic you cannot

7. Length of the test

• IELTS: Writing (60 minutes)Reading (60 minutes) Listening (30-36 minutes) Speaking (11-14 minutes)

• PTE Academic Part 1: Speaking and writing (77-93 minutes) Part 2: Reading (32-41 minutes)

Part 3: Listening (45-57 minutes)

8. Marking

• IELTS scored by teachers

• PTE Academic scored by machine

9. Results

• IELTS 2 to 5 days

• PTE 5 days
