This week, Rachael speaks to Tom who works for the management consultancy Baringa in the Digital and Marketing space. After completing a music degree where Tom specialised in Opera singing and playing the clarinet, Tom wasn’t sure if music was the way to go and through discussions with people he knew he landed in the world of consulting. Tom has worked for an incredible range of brands from the likes of Adidas to Hotels.com and even some companies you may not even think of such as Saudi Arabia's largest reseller of PVC piping. We discuss the most commonly made assumptions about life as a consultant such as is all the travel as good as it’s cracked up to be, how many hours does Tom really work in a week, is the consultant culture as cutthroat as some people say and do consultants just make pretty powerpoint slides?
