Ding! Ding! Ding! When Emotions Run High and You're in the Ring w/ guest, Mara Vernon, CPCC, PCC, CDTLF

Listen Later

On this week’s episode Jamie and Guy welcome back another one of their favorite guests, Mara Vernon CPCC, PCC, CDTLF to continue last week’s discussion on being triggered.  Mara shares an analogy or framework of what happens emotionally and physiologically when we are triggered. She calls this situation “being in the ring” and describes it as an emotional boxing ring.  She explains that when we are "in the ring" our brain only scans for the negative and we are on the defensive, ready to fight.  She goes on to explain that the way to get out of the ring is to recognize you are in it, learn to manage your emotions and then recover to a less triggered state where you are in service of your values.
