Disabled Veteran's Day | Founder, Greshun De Bouse

Listen Later

Today is Disabled Veterans Day. Celebrated annually June 30, Disabled Veterans Day was founded by Activist Dr Greshun De Bouse in 2019, with the first proclamation received from then Mayor Skip Henderson (Columbus, GA). De Bouse founded Disabled Veteran’s Day to ensure “all service-related disability needs are met” for all veterans. Specifically, Disabled Veteran's Day 2025, like 2024, will focus on the unique set of challenges faced by unsighted or visually impaired veterans-the obvious being the greater reduced quality of life for unsighted veterans, as compared to sighted veterans. Dr. De Bouse states “While no disability is more important than another, acknowledgement of the extra set of challenges unsighted veterans may face should be acknowledged.” Happy Disabled veterans Day 2025. #dvd630 #disabledvetsday
