We all know what guilt feels like - that heavy sense of not being enough, of falling short again. In Hebrews 9–10, we see that God once gave Israel a system to deal with guilt, but it could only ever go so far. This week, we see that Jesus’ sacrifice does what no other could - fully cleansing our conscience and opening the way for us to draw near to God in true worship.

We all know the feeling of holding onto something outdated even after something better has arrived. That’s the old covenant — real, but temporary, a shadow preparing the way. In Jesus we are given something better — a better priest, a better covenant, with better promises that don’t fade or fail.

We were made to live near God, but sin and self keep us at a distance - like a curtain still saying keep out. Jesus, our Great High Priest, has gone behind the curtain for us and anchored us in the presence of God. Because of His worth, the unworthy may now draw near with confidence - not fear.
