Discover Music Project: Episode 50

Listen Later

We made it! On this exultant fiftieth episode of Discover Music Project, we bring everything full-circle as Jonny and Mike explore the "solo" career of Trey Anastasio, the eclectic guitarist best known as the front man for our inaugural selection, Phish. It turns out that Trey's music outside of the jam band is quite different, and this episode is an attempt to capture that diversity and musical curiosity. You'll hear slick studio-bred pop, complex afro-funk arrangements, delicate acoustic ballads, bombastic live improvisation with a big horn section, and --for the tour de force-- a symphonic suite composed and conducted by Trey himself. Hear for yourself why fans like Jonny fell in love with this music long before developing an appreciation for Phish.
