The book of Judges is full of broken and imperfect people like you and I. This book is also filled with repeated failure. Israel falls into a cycle of sin, oppression, and short-lived deliverance. Yet, in every judge we see a shadow of Jesus — the true and perfect Deliverer. Gideon’s weakness, Samson’s sacrifice, Deborah’s wisdom — all points us to the One who saves fully Perfectly and finally. Judges ends with a longing for a king, and that longing is fulfilled in Christ, the King of Kings, who breaks the cycle of sin and brings lasting redemption.
