This case is a tale of two tragedies. The greatest tragedy being the murder of young Jerimayer Warfield, a 12-year-old boy, who was purchasing an ice cream sandwich at the corner market, a week before Christmas. 

The other is the tragedy of Joe D. Martin, Jr., an innocent man, who was arrested, tried, and convicted of this murder, and sentenced to a 51 year life sentence plus 20 additional years for attempted murder.
