Hey teach! Welcome back to The Educator's Mindset podcast!
Over the summer, I was able to sit down with Hunter Flesch (Schools of Thought podcast) and Tristan Bernhard (Chalk It Up podcast) from Ed Essentials to discuss equity in education.
Equity has been and will always be an important topic, and virtual learning adds a whole other layer. We are seeing more and more how students are impacted by not having equitable access.
We feel it's important to note that in this episode, we discuss equity within schools which includes racial inequity, and we understand that being white educators limits us from fully understanding many of the ways the education can and has perpetuated bias. This is one of many conversations we plan on having with each other and also at our schools. We are committed to learning more on how we can eliminate bias inside and outside the classroom, and we know we have A LOT to learn still, so please reach out and share any thoughts and opinions regarding equity.
