HAPPY NEW YEAR! If you are listening to this discussion, it means we are at the close of the year 2022. It has been a year of good and decent experiences. Good experiences and there were other experiences that we are looking forward to in the new year because of the feeling of starting fresh. As we look forward to the New year, let us think about what we want to improve upon for ourselves and how we want to elevate our position in life.
Some of us will cling to the notion of having a New Year’s Resolution that consists of losing weight, changing our hairstyle, or changing our behavior towards someone or someplace. However, does thinking about those things really make the change happen? The scripture tells us, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, but his heart is not with you.” Meaning the true question of change must come from within and with consistency.
A New Year brings new life, new expectations, and new opportunities to love and be loved. But what if your heart and spirit are still stuck in the past? Can you embrace new opportunities without clinging to the remnants of the past? Or are you willing to give last year’s experiences up for being made new?
Our faith in God allows us to read specific passages in the bible that helps to brace our faith in the unknown or the new beginning. You see, God is a God of hope, joy, and blessings; also, God is a God that blesses those that are blessings, and he also deals with those who mistreat and uses others.
So, in the new year, let’s make the change to live a life that pleases God and brings joy and hope to those around us. Tonight, let’s talk about the new and how we can be better people to others. This resolution should incorporate a lot of self-reflection, self-love, and the thought of pleasing God in all we do.
