In a recent Perspective article in PTJ, Mary Gannotti and colleagues tackled a complex issue: how to determine dosing of physical therapist interventions for children with cerebral palsy (CP). The group proposed a path model that details what researchers need to consider as they design studies to determine optimal dosage. In this PTJ podcast, Gannotti is joined by researcher James Cole Galloway and moderator Sally Westcott McCoy to discuss the implications of the proposed path model on future research, including elements that are not included in the model, such as epigenetics. The group also discusses the intricacies involved in researching a heterogeneous patient population such as children with CP where most of the interventions are performed in uncontrolled environments by the child's family.
