Google messaging app, Allo, released on Google I/O earlier this year. They had talked about new message retention practices that would store messages only temporarily. They’ve now essentially changed their mind, only allowing this in Incognito Mode; otherwise you’ll have to manually delete conversations. Allo messages are encrypted between your device and Google’s servers, where they’re stored to make them accessible to Google’s algorithms. The reason for the change is its smart reply feature, which gives suggestions based on a conversation; this works better with more data. Messages will by default be accessible to certain law enforcement requests.

You can now finally do so with iOS 10. Well, they’re not actually deleted, but hidden, but out of sight, out of mind. Apple says these apps only take up about 150 MB. The article lists the 23 apps that are now able to be removed. You reinstall apps the same way you’d any other—through the App Store.
