Jeff and Mark return from a short winter break and reimagine the entire backside of Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park.  The basic ambition is to “round out” the map of the park, allowing visitors to make their ways around the perimeter, much like the lands of Magic Kingdom, connecting Sunset Boulevard with Toy Storyland, experiencing an assortment of attractions, shows, and restaurants along the way.

The episode begins with impressions of the newly opened Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser, just outside of Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We then discuss the progress of Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT. Next we talk about Disney’s “StoryLiving” real estate ambitions, and Mark recollects Disney’s first dabbles into the real estate business with its early eighties acquisition of Arvida Properties prior to Celebration.

Mark builds out the back of Hollywood Studios with a fully themed land called “Uptown”, home of The Incredibles on the outskirts of Municiberg.  This includes several surprises including a nearby DVC resort.

Jeff reveals an exciting adventure called “The Kingsman” pulled from Disney’s recent acquisition of 20th Century Fox , providing a unique edgy experience for guests, allowing them to experience role playing, story building, and stunt experiences all at the same time!  Jeff also gives some honorable mentions of alternate ideas of a land for The Simpson and Family Guy - more Fox properties, more experiments of “edginess” as a notion for land design.

Episode 10 - Reimagine DinoLand USA

Social media Disney-influencer Showcase of Wishes (@ShowcaseWishes on Twitter) challenged the DisneySpace Duo to kick off 2022 by reimagining Dinoland USA of Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom. Primeval Whirl has been dismantled. The writing is seemingly on the wall for The Dino Institute. This space is ready for attention.

Mark and Jeff first discuss the latest WDW news topics ranging from Star Wars lightsaber bags to the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend.

For DinoLand, Jeff challenges to bring in an Indiana Jones influence into the area, and even entertains the notion of creating a Zootopia themed space in the park, much like what is being built today at Shanghai Disneyland. Each of these ideas strikes fascinating side conversations about what brings relevance to Animal Kingdom while satisfying guests’ typical expectations.

Mark decides to scrap DinoLand almost entirely and build something quite grand in celebration of South America, setting a new spectacular corner of the world in Animal Kingdom - and borrows something quite unique from faraway Singapore to pull it off in a big way.
