Disowning Family Members

Unfortunately, some families reach a point of dysfunction which causes a family member to conclude that he/she can’t stay connected any longer to a specific person in the family or, in some cases, the entire family. People who break all ties from family are not always over the age of 18. Many children between the age of 12 and 17 have begun to abandon their families as well. Some youth are already packed their bags mentally and just waiting to reach the age of 18 which is considered to be adulthood and they are gone. 

Estrangements from family members may be one of the most emotionally painful experiences anyone could experience. Does it go without saying that turning away from family is absolutely heartbreaking: Who, after all, would think to terminate a relationship with someone who raised you or you grew up with? Family separation can result from a variety of reasons. Such as finances, traumatic events, betrayal, lack of support, verbal or physical abuse and favoritism.
