Rahul Gandhi gave a statement in 2019 on basis of which a defamation case was filed against him. Surat court sentenced him to 2 years of imprisonment and in consequence he was disqualified from Parliament. The parliament was rocked by the protests of opposition parties. Despite he getting bail and matter being sub judice the larger question is how it will impact the electoral democracy of India or is it the beginning of 2024 election drama?
