Last week, the Wisconsin State Assembly passed two bills would bar trans athletes from school sports. This comes as states across the country are attempting to pass anti-LGBTQ+ legislation. On today’s episode of A Public Affair, guest hosted by Nan Enstad, we unpack those bills. Nan is joined by Shay Ryan Olmstead, Helen Boyd, and Rachel Crowl.
Shay Ryan Olmstead is a doctoral candidate researching U.S. queer labor history at the University of Massachusetts Amhers. They recently published a piece at The Washington Post in response to anti-trans legislation.
Helen Boyd is an author, educator, speaker. She is the author of two books, My Husband Betty and She’s Not the Man I Married. She is married to Rachel Crowl.
Rachel Crowl is an trans actor, musician, and photographer. She can be seen in “And Then There was Eve.” She is married to Helen Boyd.
Helen and Rachel recently worked on a video project aimed at Wisconsin law makers.
