WORT 89.9FM Madison · District 6 County Board Supervisor, Yogesh Chawla, Proposes Resolution Regarding PFAS

PFAS – Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances – are a class of over 5,000 synthetic chemicals that have been in use for decades for things like fast food wrappers, non-stick cookware, personal care products, and firefighting foam. Though – known as forever chemicals, PFAS has made its way into the environment contamininating lakes, rivers, wildlife, crops, and even our drinking water. This has led Governor Tony Evers to set aside over $25 million in the State’s 2021-2023 budget and create 11 new staff positions for addressing PFAS contamination.

Many local community leaders here in Madison, like Yogesh Chawla, have been hard at work doing what they can to keep the public informed about this crisis. Yogesh is the District 6 County Board Supervisor, the chair of the Land Conservation Committee, and the vice-chair on the Environment, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Committee and has recently proposed a resolutions regarding PFAS.
