Not every department has the capability to staff and operate a tech rescue company on a daily basis. How does the fire service provide the skills and abilities of a rescue technician when that is the case. In Massachusetts, district tech rescue teams exist to fill this gap. Join us in todays episode with Firefighter Justin Silva as he talks about the rescue mindset from the perspective of a district team member. Justin is a Firefighter on the Abington, Ma Fire department. He is also a member and team manager on the Plymouth County Tech Rescue Team. He is trained in a multitude of disciplines including, but not limited to, rope rescue, trench rescue, large animal rescue, and rescue diving. Justin walks us through how he got into the fire service and his journey to become a rescue technician. He also talks about having and developing specialized training to meet specific needs of his district.
