The pandemic hasn’t forced singles into love lockdown mode as statistics indicate that more people are turning to dating apps in 2021. Although the virtual environment offers seemingly infinite options, more isn’t always better and doesn’t necessarily increase chances for a love match.

• Avoid using the terms “mentally disabled,” “mentally handicapped,” or “mentally ill.” It is appropriate to say that someone “has a mental illness.” It can also be appropriate to say “mental health condition,” since many people who deal with mental health concerns may not have a formal diagnosis or a full-fledged illness.
• Therapists recognize that gift giving is customary and a matter of respect for some cultures. Therapists will acknowledge this with the client but the therapist’s policy on gifts will remain the same as for all other clients.
