Diving into the Deep Hole of College Cost: Where Does it End?

Listen Later

Join us Zahi Atallah and Chris Forde from Let's Talk Ed as we embark on a passionate (a rant really!) discussion on the pressing issue of the soaring cost of college education.

We start with an unfiltered discussion as we peel the layers covering the expenses shaping the educational landscape. We are focused on changing college education to benefit: our society, our communities, our employers, the innovative nature of the workforce needs, and the competitiveness of the US. We touch on the realities of employment and compare them to the choices that colleges are doing (or not really!).

We follow it by diving into the deep abyss, aka the cost of education. We delve into the factors driving the seemingly unstoppable escalation in education expenses. We explore the consequences for students, families, and the broader society especially in the rural parts of the US.

We finish the series with what we hope is a turn toward change and improvements. We propose a vision of a framework to transform and empower education through an affordable learning. A more expensive education reduces access for many, even with student loans. All of this at a time when enhancing inclusivity is not just a question of equity, but a solution to the dire needs in economic innovation and competitiveness.
