The promise of intimacy and the promise of loyalty are the foundations of a healthy marriage. Couples who faithfully carry out these two promises find division, hostility, barriers, and hiddenness dissolve into the oneness that God intended for us to have together.

However, in Matthew 19, Jesus states that when the promises of loyalty and intimacy are violated, God allows us to consider the option of divorce.
