Since 1986, Canadian (married) couples have been able to obtain divorces without having to prove the 'fault' of either party.  In other words, it's easy to get a divorce.  This is similar to the situation of Jesus' day.  What's really at the root of divorce?  Jesus puts his finger on the cause and therefore the solution of marriage break-ups.  Knowing this can help us all divorce-proof our marriages.
