MARK 10:1-2
Jesus then left that place and went into the region of Judea and across the Jordan. Again crowds of people came to him, and as was his custom, he taught them. Some Pharisees came and tested him by asking, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?"

(Matthew 19:3 account adds "for any and every reason")
DEUTERONOMY 24:1-4

When a man takes a wife and marries her,
and it happens that she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some indecency in her,
and he writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out from his house,
and she leaves his house and goes and becomes another man's wife,
and if the latter husband turns against her and writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house,
or if the latter husband dies who took her to be his wife,
then her former husband who sent her away is not allowed to take her again to be his wife,
since she has been defiled

MARK 10:6-9
But at the beginning of creation God made them male and female. 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.'
So they are no longer two, but one flesh.
Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.
JEREMIAH 3: 6-8
During the reign of King Josiah, the Lord said to me,
"Have you seen what faithless Israel has done? She has gone up on every high hill and under every spreading tree and has committed adultery there.
I thought that after she had done all this she would return to me but she did not,
and her unfaithful sister Judah saw it. I gave faithless Israel her certificate of divorce
and sent her away because of all her adulteries.
JEREMIAH 3:12-14
Go, proclaim this message toward the north: "Return, faithless Israel,' declares the Lord, 'I will frown on you no longer, for I am faithful,' declares the Lord, 'I will not be angry forever. Only acknowledge your guilt - you have rebelled against the Lord your God, you have scattered your favors to foreign gods under every spreading tree, and have not obeyed me,'" declares the Lord. "Return, faithless people," declares the Lord, "for I am your husband. I will choose you - one from a town and two from a clan - and bring you to Zion.
MARK 10:10-12
When they were in the house again, the disciples asked Jesus about this.
He answered, "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman
commits adultery against her.
And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery."
(Matthew 19 account does not have this last sentence).
