Derived from a variety of influences, J. Monday has emerged into the music world with a unique style. His velvety vocals weave a tapestry of smooth sounds. Pulling from old-school hip-hop and soulful R&B, his melodic lyrics reveal diverse content. J. Monday writes about success, heartbreak, and friendship. He may offer a look through the eyes of the impoverished or share a love story. Occasionally releasing upbeat singles with dance vibes, he is also known to dive deep into reflection. J. Monday experiments with subject and genre, creating a catalog of songs for every mood.



An artist obsessed with quality, J. Monday takes special care to release work that is sonically pleasing. He pays close attention to what falls into each pocket of a track. Although he wrote his first song in 2006, J. Monday held back from music until the time was right. Well-structured in everyday life, he focused on practical endeavors, like formal education. Born in Miami, Florida, following Hurricane Andrew, J. Monday and his family moved to Gainesville where he was raised. He relocated to North Carolina to attend Methodist University after high school. A doctor of physical therapy, J. Monday is currently based in the Raleigh area. Unable to continue denying his destiny, he began taking vocal lessons, learning how to turn his dream into a reality. Voice classes led to more practice, and J. Monday dove further into his craft, unleashing a wild creativity.



As he began recording and releasing his original work, J. Monday started taking it more seriously. He was able to sing in the proper key and pitch, hitting notes with intention. After a life-long obsession with music, he was primed for success. Picking the brains of engineers in the studio, he learned through trial and error. Although it was nerve-racking at first, J. Monday started to feel at home behind the mic. Self-taught, his work is unique by nature. His lyrics and metaphors are palpable for everyone. Detailed in creating a coherent sound, J. Monday uses his voice like a skilled musician. He cares about the overall instrumentation, and J. Monday is confident in his ability.



An up-and-coming artist, J. Monday’s career is taking off. His first official single, “Cross Your Mind,” from his debut 2021 album, “Path Less Travelled,” reached over 20,000 streams in a matter of months, an impressive feat for an independent artist. The track exploded. It was featured on Eminem’s radio station, Shade 45, and led to an interview with Hip-Hop Atlanta. In addition to these media placements, J. Monday was also featured in 50 New Artists to Watch Magazine and Hip-Hop Weekly. He is now working with the leading artist development team, Wealth Nation, to help guide, promote, and build his brand. He is quickly expanding his reach and maximizing his current exposure. With new singles lined up for this year and the return of live events, J. Monday has plenty in store for fans to look forward to.
