There are varying stories out there about viewership on cable channels of the conventions. I know I watched my coverage online. How many of you did the same? Are these comparisons factoring that in? I received a text from my mother in law that I want to share with you. She's a life-long Democrat. Before Trump, she would have never voted Republican. She believed that the Democratic Party was for the common man. She believed that they supported labor and the low income people. She believed that they were for civil rights and equality. She had no idea that the first black legislators were Republicans. She didn't know that the Democrats started the KKK. She didn't know the true histories of the parties. She has learned a great deal since 2016. She was shocked at Pelosi's antics both with the tearing up of the State Of The Union Address and with the constant impeachment circus. She has watched the riots and lawlessness across the country with a heavy heart and has wondered why the Democrat mayors and Governors would continue to allow the things that are going on. Fast forward to the conventions. She watched them as one that expected to find out that there's more to the story. She watched them as someone that is still hoping there is a message for her there beyond "Trump is bad". She texted me later in the evening after the first RNC Convention. I'll share her message with you. It really resonated with me because this isn't from a hard-core Trump supporter. This isn't from someone that tows the party line no matter what. This is from a lady that used to believe that the Democratic Party stood for her and her beliefs and that the Republican Party was just a bunch of rich old people. After I share her message, I'll talk about the future. The future of the Republican and Democratic Parties, the future of this country, and the future of our little slice of it. What kind of future do you want for your children? I know what I want for mine.
