Mark 14; Matthew 6:1-3; Acts 20:35
In the book of Mark, Jesus reminds his disciples that although there will always be poor people, they will not always have Him with them. He urges us to be kind to those in need whenever we have the opportunity.
It is often said that it is more rewarding to give than to receive, as Acts 20:35 teaches us. Giving not only benefits the recipient but also enriches the giver. It brings about psychological benefits such as increased happiness, reduced stress, boosted self-esteem, stronger relationships, and a greater sense of social responsibility. Furthermore, the act of giving triggers the release of hormones like oxytocin, dopamine, and serotonin, further enhancing these benefits.
Therefore, I encourage you today to give with a grateful heart, not for the recognition of others, but so that your Father in heaven may see your generosity.
