Do Not Judge
Matthew 7:1-5

The Pharisees, who Jesus is addressing in this sermon, had a fundamental problem: they misunderstood God, so they judged themselves wrongly, so they judged others wrongly, so they judged God wrongly. Now fast-forward to the 21st century, where we live in a culture of criticism. What we see in Jesus is that acts of mercy bring life. Mercy must defeat the desire to judge, to criticize, and the desire to point out the fault. The way of mercy is the way of Jesus, and this is the way we all long for. 

• A culture of mercy brings life. A culture of judgment brings death.
• Notice your sin before critiquing theirs.
• I need to address my sin before their sin.
