A #scrumteam consists of a #scrummaster, a #productowner, and the #developmentteam.
The scrum master is the facilitator and coach. The product owner is like the CEO of the product. And the development team consists of the individuals and experts who actively build the product or feature in each #sprint.
The 3 roles are clearly defined in the #scrumguide and each plays a critical role in ensuring that the organisation is building products and features that truly delight customers.
In a perfect world, each individual would have the required training and a deep understanding of the #scrumframework as well as the value contributed by each role.
However, it is very common to find people in roles and positions that don't have formal training and as such, don't have an understanding of each of the roles and the contributions they make to the team.
So, do product owners generally understand the value of a scrum master in a scrum environment?
We asked John McFadyen this question and his answer is pretty insightful.
John McFadyen has worked as a scrum master and #agilecoach in some of the highest-performing scrum teams in the world. He has also worked at the coalface of some of the UK and Europe's largest #agiletransformations.
