Critic Reviews:
"Bobette is a truly fantastic teacher, a mainstay in the USC Peter Stark Program where she has made such a tremendous impact on students. No one understands story better than her." (Larry Turman, Director, USC Peter Stark Program and Producer of The Graduate)

She not only understands Story better than most of us
Bobette Buster is highly qualified to write this provocative work. She not only understands Story better than most of us, but Bobette also sees "the full power of storytelling--its contextual beauty and majestic ability to move us--is on the wane. Â What this means it that today's children may know the facts but not the context in which things happen. As they are no longer shaped by a storytelling world, they seem to lack the will to dig deeper, preferring to surf in the immediate. Â I was struck by this recently when a graduate from one of America's most elite schools asked me, 'Was John Lennon in that group...don't tell me...Wings?'" Thankfully, Bobette employs her Master Storyteller skills with great effect for the rest of the book. Far from worried about the future, Bobette invites the reader to become one of this generation's Storytellers. Please, be one of those readers.
Good book but I was a bit disappointed.
I'd heard Bobette on a radio show and found out she was a key advisor on many famous Hollywood movies. So I was a bit disappointed because I was hoping the book would go into some technical details about how one could write plots that will hook the reader/viewer like they do in Hollywood. But it focused more on how you should be personal and detailed in your story telling. It's a very short read.
Story Time
Am new to the concept of "Story". Heard Bobette Buster do a talk at Q Ideas and then searched out her books to learn more. It would appear she is an authority on "Story" and certainly in my experience or non-experience of the whole "Story" discussion, she is a Master. Liked the book, helpful. 10 quick yet very helpful points. A recommended read for those who teach and lead people especially in a church context such as myself. Tom T
