 Author Liyu Makonnen joined us to talk about raising an autistic child.  She is also the author of the book: My Voice, My Life, My Story: Mighty Explorer.

For some of us, our first introduction to autism was when St. Albert RCMP arrested a nonverbal autistic child. 

The distress that a child would have gone through has broken many hearts. The child could have been my son, nephew, cousin etc. 

 In 2023, LCCMedia will be doing a lot of work around getting BIPOC to understand how special autistic children are.

We discussed the need for another children's book and why her book was different. We spoke about coping with an autistic child. How she protects her child?
