What do you avoid doing?
Think about this carefully – what is one thing that you’ll put off doing until you absolutely, positively have to do it? Or maybe you’ve been putting something off for a long time and still haven’t done it and have no plans to, even though you know it must be done?
Avoidance is normal, and avoidance causes you stress, because somewhere in the back of your mind there’s this little irritating thing reminding you of whatever you’re choosing not to do. How do you feel when that happens? Chances are you get a feeling of dread, maybe even with the “iceberg in the stomach” feeling.
I know you know how to make that go away, right? Just do that thing you don’t want to do and the stress of not doing it vanishes, replaced by a feeling of accomplishment. I know – it’s not easy. I avoid things too. We all do.
Today, think about how you could break that chore into steps, and then accomplish one step a day until it’s done. You’ll feel soooooo much better!
