It was another mind-bending conversation for the Jewish leaders.

I mean how do you respond when someone tells you they existed two thousand years ago?

But that's exactly what Jesus did.

He told the Pharisees, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM."

And not only 2000 years ago, Jesus told them he has existed forever by claiming to be "I AM".

Well that's God's. "I am who I am."

So Jesus said "I am God" in a way they could understand.

But it wasn't a statement they believed.

As John wrote, at this, they picked up stones to stone him.

Did Jesus claim to be God?

Yes he did.

Those who heard him make the claim, knew exactly what he was saying.
