John 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

The important question that must be settled before any doctrine can be taught is this, "Do you love God?" The mercies of God are for those who love him.  The promises of God are for those who love him.  The children of God are those who love him.

To find the answer, we ask these questions: Do you desire him? Do you speak of him? Does your heart burn for him? Is he more important than others?

Also, we ask ourselves whether our love has grown cold. Do we take him for granted? Are we getter deeper in our love toward him or more shallow?  

Do we keep his commandments?  For this is what our Lord said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments."

Do you love God?
